Dr. Cappie Baker graduated from dental school in 1984 from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee at the top of her class. She completed a combined specialty program in Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry from UCLA School of Dentistry in 1987 and also received a Master’s of Science in Oral Biology. Dual certification in Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry helps Dr. Baker offer a broad-based treatment that addresses the needs of all age groups.

Dr. Baker is passionate about health, fitness, and nutrition and is an endurance triathlete and marathoner. She enjoys cycling, snowboarding and practices Vinyasaflow yoga to balance her training. As a member of Train4Autism Dr. Baker wants to help and inspire others outside of her profession and to give greater meaning to her training. Her motivation and inspiration began after being touched by the tremendous courage, fortitude, and strength of many of her patients who are living full meaningful lives with loving families and friends who are in some way challenged physically, mentally or both. This created a desire to channel her inner passion, strength, and love for health and fitness into helping those who have taught her so much and given her great joy. Dr. Baker is a new member of Smile Train Team Empower. She is joining other athletes and fundraising to help provide free cleft lip and palate surgery to poor children in developing countries who live in shame. More importantly she will be helping these kids who have difficulty eating, breathing, and speaking.

During her free time Dr. Baker enjoys ocean swimming, leisurely hikes in the local mountains and canyons, and traveling with family and friends.
